From year 2020, Google Chrome browser will stop working on Windows

January 2022 may seem like a long time away, but for Windows 7 users, it's a date to watch. Although Windows 7 reached its official end of life date in January 2020, tens of millions of people are still using the operating system around the world. These users need the support not only of Microsoft, but also of software developers.

And for those who use the Chrome browser on Windows 7, Google has now set a specific date for the end of support for your favorite browser.

When will Google stop supporting Google Chrome browser on Windows 7?

The official word is that Google will now end support for its Chrome browser in January 2022. While that doesn't seem like a long time, it's actually a six-month period from the end date. From the original mount which was first fixed in July 2021.

The mid-year extension gives current Windows 7 users another opportunity to switch from Windows 7 to an alternative operating system like Windows 10, or to set alternative settings for their browser.

Although Microsoft no longer officially supports Windows 7, NetMarketShare reports that the operating system still accounts for over 24% of the market. In fact, Windows 7's market share has increased recently. Considering the number of vulnerabilities and security issues facing Windows 7, and the various extensions to the support period, the number remains high.

The main objective of Google is therefore security. With so many Windows 7 users among consumers and the corporate world, we welcome additional security support. Many Windows 7 devices that run on critical hardware cannot manage critical vulnerabilities.

The extension also moves Google to Microsoft's end of support for enterprise users currently set at 2023. This support is exclusive to corporate users who pay for support rather than full support for Businesses and organizations running the legacy operating system.

However, if you are a Windows 7 user, you should consider upgrading to Windows 10 for a faster and more secure operating system experience.
